Space Flies Attack

Space Flies Attack is a fixed shooter video game. The player controls a starship, the objective being to clear each round of aliens.
Enemies will make a divebomb towards the bottom of the screen while shooting projectiles in an attempt to hit the player. A special ship will occasionally move across the top of the screen and award bonus points if destroyed.
The player defeats an alien and earns points by shooting it with the laser cannon. Defeating all the aliens on-screen brings another wave that is more difficult. Enemies become more aggressive as the game progresses, increasing their number of projectiles and diving down at a faster rate.

*Shadow and highlight is a feature of the VDP which allows the brightness of pixels to be adjusted to three different levels: normal, shadow and highlight. This increases the potential palette of colours from 512 to around 1536 (some of those will be duplicates). It also triples the number of colours that can be displayed on screen simultaneously.
